Breaking; £1m Decision Big Risk to Celtic Ahead of January – opinion

The goalkeeping position at Celtic is one that has drummed up a lot of talk between the supporters. Especially over the summer. Reports suggested that Brendan Rodgers had identified the goalkeeping position as one that he wanted to strengthen.

But Celtic must look to address the goalkeeping position sooner rather than later. Why should Celtic replace Joe Hart? Because the current Hoops number one, Joe Hart, is out of contract at the end of the season. Not only that, he is also 36 years old and cannot go on forever. Further reports also claimed that Liverpool backup ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher was high on Rodgers’ list this summer.

Don’t get me wrong; I still believe Hart can benefit Celtic greatly. That has been demonstrated by his performances thus far this season.

However, Celtic must consider either replacing him immediately or bringing in a goalkeeper.

I love Hart so much. On TBR Celtic, I have frequently voiced my opinion that the team ought to try to retain him in some form.

The seasoned international might be utilized as a member of the goalkeeping staff to assist in training and developing young goalies like Tobi Oluwayemi.

But first for the upcoming campaign? That, in my opinion, is a bridge too far.

Brendan Rodgers must be considering how to proceed in light of this circumstance. Hart is out today, so Benji Siegrist or Scott Bain will start against Motherwell this afternoon.

Who knows, either of the two might astound us and perform admirably against the Fir Park team. But are they both competent enough to succeed Hart in the future? I am going to decline.

‘I’m quite sure,’ in other news At today’s press conference, Jurgen Klopp makes a statement on Celtic and Ange Postecoglou.
