Huddersfield Town anxious over Versatile defender

Versatile defender Ben Jackson was forced off in the second half of Huddersfield Town’s home draw with Swansea City

Ben Jackson will be evaluated by Huddersfield Town this week. The versatile defender was substituted after an hour in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Swansea City.

After the game, Terriers manager Darren Moore voiced his optimism that Jackson, who has put in a series of outstanding performances in recent weeks, was suffering from “tiredness and fatigue” rather than an injury. Moore was able to give Danny Ward his first start since suffering an Achilles injury in September, while Delano Burgzorg and Josh Koroma came off the bench on Saturday following their midweek starts against Sunderland.

However, the Terriers still have an extensive injury list. Eight players sat-out the trip to the principality. Moore acknowledged that any further setbacks were the “last thing” they needed with a busy run of games on the horizon.

Moore told the club’s website, “I’m delighted with the two games, the minutes that we’ve gotten into Del and Danny.” “When you look at the upcoming Christmas period, that will provide enough minutes for those two.”

“We’ve got to look at the Christmas programme coming up, and the last thing we needed was anyone really coming off with any serious injury today due to overuse.”

“The only one concern is Jacko, but we’ll assess him over the next couple of days. We hope that’s just tiredness and fatigue, which is understandable playing wing-back, you’ve got to cover big distances. We hope that’s not anything too serious, so hopefully we’ve come through the game unscathed.”

Town have had three matches in quick succession following the international break, taking five points from games against Southampton, Sunderland and Swansea City. Next up is a home fixture with Bristol City. It is the first of six matches between now and the end of the year. Moore has given his players an extra day off to recover from a testing week.

“I’ll give them a couple of days, and we’ll be back in Tuesday ready to work,” he said. “With their workload and travel, rest and recuperation is sometimes just as important as working on the pitch.”

“We’ll come back in on Tuesday and we’ll start some work building up for that Bristol City game.”
