Huddersfield Town get mixed news on the injury front:

Huddersfield Town welcome Bristol City to the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow afternoon looking to extend their unbeaten Championship run to four matches

Huddersfield Town duo Ben Wiles and Lee Nicholls are set to return to the squad for tomorrow’s clash against Bristol City. The pair have missed the Terriers’ last three matches with hamstring and neck injuries respectively.

In Nicholls’ absence, Chris Maxwell has acquitted himself well in between the sticks. The summer signing had to wait patiently for his opportunity to stake his claim.

Speaking at his press briefing today, boss Darren Moore said: “We’ve been happy with Ben, the way he’s been training over the last few days. He’s been a welcome addition to the group, so providing no reactions from anything, then he’ll be part of the squad for tomorrow. Lee [Nicholls] as well, as long as he’s not had any reactions or anything else, then he’ll be part of the squad tomorrow as well.”

However, Ben Jackson will miss out due to “muscle soreness”. The wing-back had to be withdrawn on the hour mark against Swansea City last weekend.

“From the last game, I think we’ve just got a slight issue with Ben Jackson,” Moore said. “He’s just got a little bit of muscle soreness that we just won’t take a risk with.

“Really soon (he’ll be back available). In terms of the injury, we don’t think it’s anything substantial. That injury’s just come through fatigue and volume of games. We don’t expect it to be a long-term injury, but tomorrow’s game has probably come a little bit too soon for him.”

As for the rest of their injury list, Moore is optimistic Jackson, Jack Rudoni and Kyle Hudlin will be back in action before the end of 2023. “Certainly we expect to see Jack, Kyle Hudlin, Ben Jackson all back this side of the year, but not tomorrow,” the manager said.

“If we can talk about adding back and not losing anybody, getting Jacko back and Jack Rudoni back in, and Kyle in and around it, it just gives you more options.

“Currently, the ones that probably you won’t see until the New Year are the likes of Josh Ruffels, (Ollie) Turton, Kian (Harratt), Pat Jones, those are the ones probably in the New Year. We can put them to rest until further notice. Up until then, the rest of them, they’ve all got a chance.”

Moore will have to make one enforced change to his starting line-up, with Sorba Thomas set to serve a one-match suspension. The winger picked up his fifth booking of the season in South Wales.
