Huddersfield Town Keen To Sign £280K-Rated Attacker

Huddersfield Town has reportedly been connected to an attacker from the level below as they want to reinforce their offensive unit before the January transfer window ends.

The Terriers are struggling to stay afloat in the second division of English football, and the numbers do not favour the Yorkshire team. Having lost their last four league games, Darren Moore’s team currently has the fifth-worst offensive and defensive record in the Championship and is only three points above the relegation zone.

Nevertheless, after completing the acquisitions of Alex Matos and Bojan Radulovic, Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle disclosed two weeks ago that the team hoped to add three more players to the Kirklees Stadium.

“It’s impossible to say with certainty when a signing will occur. I can confirm that we have a list of nine or 10 individuals that we want to target.

“I’m going to assign a number to it, and I’m hoping for three more. That’s the objective I set for our team, and I’m thrilled about it.

Following their remarks, Huddersfield finalised the permanent acquisitions of FC Groningen’s Radinio Balker and Watford’s Rhys Healey. But now, it’s said that the team is targeting a League One player.

Before the winter transfer window closes, Huddersfield Town is reportedly eager to sign Wigan Athletic winger Jordan Jones. The team will face Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday, two other relegation opponents.

Although Jones’ contract expires at the end of the 2023–2024 season, the site also reports that the Latics intend to keep the 29-year-old on staff and will shortly begin negotiations on a new agreement.

This season, Jones has been a key member of Wigan’s squad, earning 23 appearances across all competitions under Shaun Maloney. Jones can play on the left or right side of the attack and, if necessary, at number ten. Besides, his contract expires in six months, although his present market value is £280,000.

The Northern Ireland international might be persuaded to accept this, since it would be a great addition, especially if Wigan doesn’t offer him favourable terms in a new contract offer.
