One of the players in the team with the longest tenure is the 32-year-old. The Whites captain was playing a lot during the preseason, but when the Saudi club made a big offer in July, his future was called into question.
Cooper is not presently under contract with the team; his current contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the current campaign. Although Al Qadsiah is directly behind the Saudi Pro-League clubs, their fortune is comparable.
According to Phil Hay, the wealthy club led by Robbie Fowler made Cooper an offer of £2 million net per year for a two-year contract. That’s about forty thousand pounds a week, tax free. They ultimately decided not to submit Leeds with a formal offer, though.
Cooper asked the team to extend his contract by one year until 2025, but he turned down the Middle East’s request.
A major choice for Leeds
Cooper hasn’t had an easy time at Leeds, but he has earned his respect by working hard and being dependable. He has been with the team for ten seasons, and he is 29 appearances short of 300. But it’s still unclear if Leeds would extend an offer to him for a new contract in a few months.
One of the main reasons the Whites would be hesitant to give him an extension is injuries; instead, the team might try to locate a long-term replacement.
Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas, the other two senior players whose contracts expire in 2024, will also require decisions from the Yorkshire club.With over 800 games played, the three players have only cost Leeds about £2 million in total. Leeds, 11 points behind Leicester City, is ranked fifth in the table with 19 points. 
The Athletic reports that Saudi club Al Qadsiah was interested in Leeds United defender Liam Cooper during the summer transfer window, but the deal fell through.
