Why would a Brilliant Young Star will be Denied of Playing Time?

Tyler Roberts had hoped that leaving Leeds United permanently in the summer would allow him to advance in his career.

The 24-year-old left Elland Road to join Birmingham City with the hope of earning regular playing time, but this season has regrettably been a familiar story for him.

Roberts played 61 minutes in the Blues’ opening-day tie against Swansea City after a successful preseason with the team, but he hasn’t been seen since.

The day before Roberts was scheduled to play his previous team Leeds for the first time since leaving in the summer, he sustained the injury during a training session.

It was a calf injury that Roberts sustained, as verified by Birmingham’s former manager John Eustace, a problem he has frequently experienced during his career.

Since leaving Leeds, Roberts has continued to suffer with injuries.

Eustace had hoped Roberts’ absence would only last a few weeks, but the Welsh international has still not been re-added to the matchday squad.

Roberts’ career has been hampered by injuries thus far, which first occurred soon after his arrival at Leeds when he shattered his shin while exercising and was sidelined for seven months.

Jesse Marsch also sustained further injuries while playing for Leeds, including a ruptured hamstring tendon and a number of muscular strains, which have stopped him from reaching his full potential, which Jermaine Beckford praised as “brilliant” in 2021.

Roberts was limited to just 18 appearances while on loan at Queens Park Rangers last season because of a calf ailment that also prevented him from traveling with Wales to the World Cup.

It is quite disappointing to see how much injuries are affecting his career, but maybe it won’t be long until he is back playing.
