Real Madrid ‘send scout’ to Newcastle vs PSG to watch three players

Real Madrid are set to send chief scout Juni Calafat to St James’ Park to watch three players in action when Newcastle take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Newcastle stars Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, with the La Liga giants set to send a scout to watch the duo in action in the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe, who has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, will also be on their radar when Newcastle host PSG at St James’ Park on Wednesday. Mbappe’s contract is due to expire next summer, meaning he could join Real on a free transfer.

Next year it will be more than 70-80 percent.”

And according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real are sending their chief scout Juni Calafat to ‘monitor’ Mbappe when he takes on Newcastle. The report also adds that Calafat will be taking a closer look at both Isak and Guimaraes.

It is claimed the pair are ‘on the club’s agenda’ and they want to ‘monitor them live in a big match’. Guimaraes has been in talks with Newcastle over a new contract, with Toon boss Eddie Howe keen for the midfielder’s future to be resolved quickly.

“I think for any player the contract is important because you want stability. You want the player to enter training and games without thinking about their future, that’s any player not just Bruno, you want them just thinking about football.

“I’m taking everything off the pitch away from them. Personal issues they may have, contract issues, the football is the most important thing. If any player trains and plays to the best of their ability they are only going to receive good things off the back of that. So fingers crossed we can reach a conclusion.”

And when asked when the contract extension could be finalised, Howe added: “You might know more than me, I don’t know. I’m not involved in that. I’m focused on so many games and that’s taken care of by other people. Hopefully I will hear before you, but maybe not.”

Isak has also been linked with Barcelona and spent three seasons in La Liga with Real Sociedad before joining Newcastle. Real Madrid are lacking a top striker following the departure of Karim Benzema, who joined Saudi club Al-Ittihad on a free transfer this summer.

Former Newcastle striker Joselu rejoined the club from Espanyol to try and fill the void and has scored four goals in nine appearances so far this season. England star Jude Bellingham is currently Real Madrid’s top scorer with seven goals in eight games in all competitions.
