Darren Moore Give reason why ‘angry, disappointed and frustrated’ at Huddersfied with disgruntled fans’

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN manager Darren Moore insists that he fully understands the frustrations of home supporters – who booed his side at half time and at the final whistle in his side’s bitterly disappointing 3-1 home loss to Preston.

Following an unimpressive weekend performance against Bristol City, Town passed up an opportunity to re-engage fans on a difficult night for everyone involved.

Moore admitted to being ‘mad, upset, and frustrated’ with his team’s performance, as Town look over their shoulders at the relegation zone, where they might join on Wednesday night if results go against them.

Moore, who has only won twice in 14 games as manager, said: “The fans made their feelings clear – rightly so, as there had been some hope in terms of where things were going in recent weeks.”

“I completely understand your disappointment. Looking at other results doesn’t bother me because I’ve always been one to focus on Huddersfield Town. What happens tomorrow will be the outcome.

“What we need to do is concentrate here. I believe there is enough going on here for us not to be looking at other results as the season nears its midway point.”

“I am angry, disappointed, and frustrated as we pride ourselves on performance,” said the Town chief, who made three interval changes. You can’t win games unless you put up a good show. You can’t expect to win games if your performance isn’t up to par.

“On reflection, I’m the most animated you’ve probably seen me in trying to keep the team in the game and on the offensive.” I felt like I could have made those modifications in 20 minutes.

“That pinpoints exactly where we were.

“I need to look at one or two minor details to reflect for the weekend.”

“It was a disappointing performance, and we have another game in four days to get it out of our system.”

“We’ll see the mistakes that we can correct as a group and learn from them.”

“It serves as a reminder of the work that needs to be done.”

Preston dominated Town in the first half, taking the lead on an early Alan Browne header.

Will Keane added a second on 39 minutes, before Danny Ward’s brilliant header and first goal of the season early in the second half from Matty Pearson’s cross gave Town a glimmer of hope.

In line with Town’s injury-plagued season, Pearson, who set up Ward’s goal, signalled to the bench that he couldn’t continue due to an injury.

Ben Whiteman finished it up for North End not long after.

Moore added about Pearson, “It’s too early to say because I don’t want to say anything if it’s not the case.” Let’s just wait a week and see where Matty P is once the medical staff determines where he is.”

Preston completed their own difficult run with a much-needed victory, albeit North End manager Ryan Lowe later spoke out in support of Moore.

“Huddersfield have some good players and you can see that they are well organised,” he remarked. I know things aren’t going well for Darren right now, but he’s a fighter and warrior with a game plan that he’ll stick to.

“We had to respect Huddersfield because they are dangerous in the air certain quarters.”
