Summer transfer business, goals on Sunday and contract question mark – Your Coventry City questions answered

Coventry City Q&A from CoventryLive as Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner answers some of fans’ big questions of he week

This week, Coventry City’s primary goal is to be ready for their FA Cup semi-final matchup against Manchester United. The excitement around the Sky Blues’ big day at Wembley serves as a much-needed diversion from their disappointing performance in the Championship play-off campaign.

Apart from the antics of this season, though, supporters’ focus has already shifted to the aspirations and expectations they have for the 2024–25 campaign as well as a possibly thrilling summer transfer window. The contractual status of Callum O’Hare remains a topic of discussion, with some individuals questioning if there is still a possibility for the offensive midfield player to remain at the CBS Arena after his present contract expires in July as opposed to departing on a free transfer.

Here, Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner answers some of your big questions of the week in our regular Q&A.

Do you know anything about the players we’ve been observing? Heard the long-standing “friend of a friend” rumour that the club’s summer business should delight us. perhaps specific roles that we may be considering? Naturally, injuries have made depth a bit of a problem this season, so it would be fascinating to know where we would be trying to reinforce.

AT: The only player I have is the 25-year-old midfielder Andrian Kraev from the Bulgarian team Levski. M’Boro and Hull were also linked to this team a few months back. Since his contract expires in the summer, he will be free to use.

Concerning positions, has already disclosed that the team intends to vigorously pursue the draft in order to acquire a right winger to challenge Tatsuhiro Sakamoto in the upcoming campaign. When Callum O’Hare leaves this summer, City will also need a backup left-sided center-half and a different number ten/playmaker to compete with Kasey Palmer. This will depend on what happens with Luis Binks. With Liam Kelly certain to depart, City will need at least one more central midfield player, and maybe more if they receive an offer they  can’t turn down for Ben Sheaf. Another goal scorer might also be on the cards along with maybe a goalkeeper, particularly if Ben Wilson decides he wants more guaranteed game time at his stage of his career.
