Reading Star Man Wanted By Newly-Promoted Side

It could be considered as a breakout season for the 21-year-old, who really made his name known after competing for a berth on the first team this year. Despite not appearing until mid-October, Craig made 28 appearances in the third tier, 17 of which were starts.

His services would enable the Royals beat the odds and finish 17th, nine points clear of relegation. Reading have been tremendously outstanding despite all of the club’s off-field issues, which may continue into next season, and Ruben Selles deserves a lot of respect.

The Spaniard has operated with a very youthful squad this season, giving lots of opportunity to junior players like Craig, with the goal of returning the club to the Championship in the future. Obviously, the ownership hurdle is a significant one to overcome, but on the pitch, there is some hope for the supporters for next season.

They may be masters of their own demise this summer, given how many young players have impressed. Given their financial difficulties, rival teams are expected to want to sign some of their players, including Craig.

According to Football Insider, Portsmouth is one among the clubs interested in signing the 21-year-old. He should benefit from his experience this season and appears to have much more to contribute.

Portsmouth are already planning their transfer strategy for next season, having been promoted to the Championship as Champions. It’s not surprising that they’re seeking for young players, given that John Mousinho appears to be able to bring out the best in certain younger players. They’ve also lately been linked with Karamoko Dembele, who spent the season on loan at Blackpool, and these two aren’t the only players reported to be joining Fratton Park this summer.

Perhaps staying at Reading is the greatest option for Craig’s growth. However, he is unlikely to turn down the opportunity to play in the Championship if Portsmouth come calling.
