Jobe Bellingham, the star of Sunderland, responded to the Black Cats’ incredible run to the Championship play-off final.

The Black Cats’ matches against Coventry City were far more cagey, leaving both sets of fervent supporters on edge, in contrast to Sheffield United’s two-leg, record-breaking thumping of Bristol City at Ashton Gate and Bramall Lane with a 6-0 aggregate scoreline.

An eager crowd was hoping for a simpler journey to Wembley after the Sky Blues took a 2-1 lead back to the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda. However, that was called into question when Sky Blues winger Ephron Mason-Clark headed a Milan van Ewijk cross home on 76 minutes, before the match continued to fluctuate as it went into extra time.

However, as the Championship play-offs frequently unfold, neither Mackems players nor fans could have imagined what transpired in the 121st minute.

With a 3-2 aggregate victory, Regis Le Bris’ dream of promotion in his first season as manager endures. Dan Ballard, who had been a collossus throughout the two legs, connected with Enzo Le Fee’s corner to head past Ben Wilson, igniting scenes of chaos throughout the iconic stadium’s home sections.

Whilst Ballard will receive the vast majority of praise for his defensive and attacking contributions over the two-legged affair against Frank Lampard’s men, the likes of Bellingham were just as key in aiding the Wearside outfit’s progression, especially at the CBS Arena.

Due to the strong bond he has developed with the team since joining for £3 million from Birmingham City two summers ago, the 20-year-old playmaker, as has become customary in recent years, responded right away on his Instagram story with the one-word message “Wembley!!” and numerous red and white heart emojis.

“What a team, what a club, what a place, and what a night,” the man, who has been connected to numerous Premier League and elite European teams throughout the season, wrote in a subsequent post on his account. As usual, a wonderful pleasure.
