Some of the Glasgow club’s best prospects are moving to South Ayrshire as part of the Honest Men’s cooperation arrangement with the Premiership winners.

The arrangement is more adaptable than the loan system and is intended to provide players between the ages of 16 and 21 more playing time.

The 19-year-old Celtics Jude Bonnar and Kyle Ure have already experienced their first game with The Honest Men, and a third player will shortly join them.

Ayr United managing director Graeme Mathie said: “We’ve been working on this for a number of months.

“We looked at what clubs have players that are of a level that could come and contribute.

“Celtic were a pretty obvious candidate and we’re absolutely delighted that they’ve chosen us to work with.

“We did have to work hard to convince Celtic that we were the right partners for them and convince the boys that we were the right club to come to as well.”

It was obvious to go along the A77, according to Bonnar, one of the young Celtic stars playing at Somerset Park this season.

He stated: “I heard that Ayr was interested, so I immediately decided that I wanted to come out and play football for the first squad.

It’s a nice place to be, and the players and staff are all really sincere.

“We spoke about their needs and how I could support the team when I first met the manager.
