Preston North End midfielder Andrew Moran is a “good investment” from the club, reporter Elliott Jackson believes.
Preston North End landed attacking midfielder Andy Moran on a permanent transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion on deadline day. The midfielder joins PNE on a contract until 2029 with the option to extend by a further 12 months, with a £1m plus add-ons fee reported.
The 22-year-old Moran hasn’t played for Brighton this season since his loan from LAFC ended recently. He is eager to play for his new team this weekend, and local reporter Elliott Jackson gave his thoughts on the transfer to the Lancashire Post.
Preston North End move a chance to kick on for Andrew Moran

Moran was signed by Preston North End to increase their midfield inventiveness. In the middle of the park, he will provide PNE greater depth and competition.
He will compete for a spot in their starting lineup against players like Callum Lang, Lewis Dobbin, and Alfie Devine. Paul Heckingbottom made it apparent that his team needs to exit the transfer window stronger, and it looks like they have done so with a player like Moran.
Moran was on the books at Brighton from 2021, after previously rising through the ranks at Irish side Bray Wanderers. He struggled to break into the first-team on the South Coast, with the majority of his performances being in cup competitions and U21 level.
The Dublin-born prospect has played the majority of his career minutes in the Championship, so he shouldn’t need time to adjust to the league. He had two solid loans at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before a fairly underwhelming spell in America with LAFC.
A fresh start was needed, and ideally on a permanent basis. Preston North End now give Moran the environment to kick on and maximise his potential, allowing him to settle at a club and take his game to the next level after some promising loans.
