A player like Jay Stansfield has been long overdue for Birmingham City. a natural finisher with an uncanny ability to find the goal from any angle.

Stansfield, who until recently was an unknown quantity at the Championship level, made his presence known quickly. It was evident that Blues had struck gold as he deftly slid the ball around Plymouth Argyle defender Lewis Gibson before firing home a winning goal on his debut in the 95th minute.

Stansfield followed that up with strikes against Millwall and Preston North End – both excellent finishes in their own right. Would any other Blues player have converted any of those three chances?
