Jude Bonnar, a Celtic prospect, is getting closer to joining Scott Brown at Ayr United on loan in order to increase their prospects of qualifying for the Scottish Premiership.
The teenage midfielder, who made his senior debut in Celtic Park’s 5-1 triumph against Aberdeen the previous season, was not included in the squad when Brendan Rodgers’ team defeated Cork City 2-1 on Tuesday night.

According to Daily Record, Bonnar is expected to spend the upcoming season on loan at Scottish Championship side Ayr United, where he will work under former legendary Celtic captain Scott Brown.

The teenager remains tied to a deal at the Hoops that runs through to the summer of 2026. A move to Premiership hopefuls Ayr seems a decent move for Bonnar who needs game time at this stage of his career.

Brendan Rodgers shared his thoughts earlier this year after handing Bonnar his first appearance for Celtic. He said: “It’s nice for Jude. He’s done very well with the second team, but not only that, he’s working very, very hard, which I notice I see him in the gym a lot, doing his extra to get himself physically ready.”

“He’s technically very good in the game. Like I said, he’s improving his physicality. He’s improving the competitive side to his game.”

“Tactically, he understands how we work and for him to get that feeling of coming in. For me, what he also showed was personality, because I like my players, especially young players, to have the personality to come into the arena and play for Celtic. He showed all of that, so it should hopefully give him that bit of motivation now to push on.”

Last season, Broony’s team lost to Partick Thistle in the playoffs after finishing third in the championship. The division will be extremely competitive once more after Ross County and St Johnstone, two Premiership clubs, were relegated.
