While Manchester City has long had Gibbs-White as a target and may make a move this summer to get him, Newcastle is eager to capture Elanga.

Offloading one player would allow Forest to do some significant damage in the transfer market, although Elanga and Gibbs-White are both very important players.

Newcastle aren’t going away when it comes to their interest in Elanga, however, and now they look to have upped the ante somewhat in a quest to sign the winger from Forest.

Newcastle have bid rejected for Anthony Elanga

Newcastle just won’t go away in their desire to bring Elanga to St James’ Park this summer, but they’re going to have to get very serious very quickly if Forest are to continue discussions.

According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, Newcastle have seen a bid of £40 million rejected by the Reds, with Forest only willing to entertain bids of £50 million and beyond.

Elanga scored six goals and registered 12 assists during the 2024/25 campaign and was very much an integral part of the team that finished in seventh place in the Premier League.

The Reds need to ensure that a replacement is sought and hopefully, there will already be some irons in the fire should Elanga depart the club in the coming weeks.

Forest need to keep Elanga

If the player has a desire to leave, then Forest will be powerless, with Newcastle qualifying for Champions League football next season.

The challenge if Elanga does go this summer is replacing him, and that won’t necessarily be easy to do in a market where prices are seemingly more inflated for forward players.

Ideally, Forest will keep Elanga for at least one more season to see if he can be part of another successful team on Trentside in future.

At 23-years-old, the ceiling is extremely high when it comes to Elanga, but if Newcastle can stretch their bid to around £60 million then the writing could be on the wall for the Sweden international.

Evangelos Marinakis appears to be holding the aces with this one, however, and he will certainly be driving a hard bargain to get the full valuation of Elanga if the time does come to sell.

This summer, Nottingham Forest will be looking to add players, and it looks like they’re looking for a midfielder.

Cuiabano is expected to sign with Forest following the Club World Cup, while the Reds are also looking for a full-back and new attackers.

To strengthen the team’s offensive arsenal, Igor Jesus is joining Forest, and it seems like everything is set in stone at the City Ground.

With Ibrahim Sangare leading the Ivory Coast and Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates, and Elliot Anderson all now at the club, things certainly seem promising for Forest’s midfielders.
