Last night, the Batley Bulldogs issued a rather strange statement regarding the “strategic review” meeting that took place at Fox’s Biscuits Stadium, the site of their championship game, last week.
Clubs commissioned this “strategic review” of the sport, which is being led by Nigel Wood, the interim chairman of the RFL.

The results of that study won’t be released until the summer, but last week at Batley, senior game officials met to confirm Wood’s return and to choose who would be participating in the strategic review.
It’s safe to say, though, that the Bulldogs’ own statement of the encounter was far from ideal.
According to the announcement, Fox’s Biscuits Stadium hosted the first meeting of Championship & League 1 clubs under Nigel Wood’s Strategic Review this week. There were constructive discussions about how the sport should advance in the future.
Following a lunch at Haighs Pie & Peas, all club representatives decided to contribute to the purchase of a floodlight for our appeal, bringing us one more £250 closer to our goal!

In addition to organising the lunch, we would like to thank Tracey Winner for contributing £50 to our Pink Weekend rather than accepting money herself. When members of our sport band together to support one another, it is quite amazing.
