Barrow Raiders have welcomed back front-rower Jamie Pye on loan ahead of Sunday’s trip to Batley Bulldogs.

Pye started the season with the Raiders and featured eight times in all competitions.

He was subsequently recalled by parent club Salford Red Devils earlier this month and featured against Leeds Rhinos in the Betfred Super League on April 10.

It has now been agreed that Pye will return to the Northern Competitions Stadium to ensure further game time in a competitive environment.

As was the case with his previous season-long loan deal, the Red Devils will have the option to recall Pye at any point after the first two weeks of the loan.

Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “When Jamie was first recalled by Salford, there was an understanding that he could return to us later in the season, should the opportunity arise.

“I’m grateful for the cooperation of everyone at Salford in allowing us to bring Jamie back to the club.

“He started the season in excellent form and made himself a really important part of our side in the early rounds.

“At a time when we have some injuries to key forwards, Jamie’s return is a real boost.
