The leaders of AYR United have denounced “abuse” and “inappropriate behavior” directed at the team’s employees and players.
The club has revealed that comments were written online and made in person following Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup defeat to Partick Thistle.
It said that the comments “fall well below” what is expected of fans of the Somerset Park side.
A statement said: “Comments written on the club’s social channels and comments made in person at last Saturday’s match fall well below what can be expected of Ayr United supporters.
“We are in this together, and abuse of players, staff or directors will not be tolerated.
“Inappropriate behaviour, including abuse of staff or threats of violence by anyone, at games or online, will be acted upon to remove such behaviour from our support.

“We wish to encourage true supporters of our club and we are working extremely hard to provide an environment in which individuals and families from all backgrounds and all areas of our community can be a part of our club without fear of such behaviours or intimidation.”
The club has also confirmed that individuals who behave in a similar way will not be welcome back at Somerset Park.
The press release continued: “Football is a game of opinions, and everyone is entitled to them, but abusing our own does nothing to help our club progress.”
