SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher fears Nathan Ralph has suffered a serious knee injury.
The Shrimpers skipper was taken off early on against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
And Maher is nervously waiting for the results of the defender’s scan.
“It’s not looking great,” said Maher.
“He’s gone for a scan and we’re waiting for the results of that but he felt a pop in his knee.
“The pitch played a part and it’s unfortunate.
“As he’s gone to take off he’s felt something go.
“We’re waiting for the results and fingers crossed it’s not as bad as we fear it might be. “But it does look like it’s going to be a period of time.
