Fans of Swindon Town FC excited after saw club legend John Trollope run out of the tunnel

The foundation’s application said the statue is to honour John’s work as both a player, manager and his contribution to the Swindon and Wiltshire community

It said: “Having seen the wonderful statue of Don Rogers, we have decided that we want to celebrate one of our 1969 heroes, with a statue of John Trollope – not only for his role in the historic cup victory, but in recognition of his immense contribution and commitment to Swindon Town FC and the STFC Community Foundation.”

The Community Foundation has been fundraising for money to pay for the statue, with a sizable sum of £100,000 needed to bring it to life.

According to the latest update from the Foundation earlier this month, thanks to efforts and kind donations from members of the community, as well as £15,000 from the Nigel Eady Trust, the total raised so far is £61,000

According to a spokeswoman, the goal of the fundraising effort is to raise £100,000 and is being carried out in partnership with the supporters groups TrustSTFC, Official Supporters Club, the STFC Business Group, and Swindon Town FC. We are thrilled to report that the Nigel Eady Trust has generously donated £15,000 to us. We also appreciate their continued support. Along with additional donations from supporters and Trust FC, we have now received £15,000 from the EFL.
