Following their return to the Premier League, Sunderland must make many crucial transfer selections.
According to the most recent reports, Sunderland striker Nazariy Rusyn will not sign a permanent contract with Croatian team Hajduk Split this summer. According to Sportske Novosti, Gennaro Gattuso’s team has decided against signing the 26-year-old on a permanent transfer because he has struggled on loan since arriving.
The report claims Sunderland had negotiated a €2million (£1.67m) deal with Split, but the Croatian side believe it’s too much after a tough spell.
Regis Le Bris handed the Ukrainian just 66 minutes of Championship football last season, appearing in eight games, before linking up with Gattuso in January.
Rusyn played 716 minutes for Hadjuk Split, but failed to score or provide an assist in a disappointing spell. That being said, his side finished third in the league and had been mulling over a decision to sign the striker permanently.
However, the report from Sportske Novosti claims Gattuso’s side will walk away from the deal and Rusyn will return to Wearside this summer.

The Ukrainian signed a deal until the summer of 2027 but has found it tough to nail down a spot in the starting XI and could be one of a number of players on the move this summer.
Sunderland have decisions to make on the likes of Pierre Ekwah, Abdoullah Ba, Adil Aouchiche, Timothee Pembele, Rusyn, Luis Hemir Semedo, Jewison Bennette, Jay Matete and Ian Poveda.
Kristjaan Speakman will be looking to bolster the Black Cats’ coffers this summer ahead of a huge summer transfer window as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Sunderland will try to break the trend of the last six Championship teams that have achieved promotion not being able to stay in the Premier League the next season.
As terms of his loan agreement with AS Roma, the Wearsiders agreed to acquire the French playmaker upon promotion, and they have already completed the acquisition of Le Fee.
The club are also said to be in negotiations with Romaine Mundle over a new deal, while Jordan Henderson is being linked with a surprise return to the club.
