Anel Ahmedhodzic answers Blades future question after show of love from Blades supporters
After a challenging time off the pitch, Anel Ahmedhodzic has responded to the subject of his future at Sheffield United by acknowledging that the love he receives from Blades supporters means a lot to him. The Bosnian defender made his choice to cut off contact with Mirsad and withdraw from international duty in September, revealing his tense relationship with his father.
Following a difficult period away from the pitch, Anel Ahmedhodzic has addressed the topic of his future at Sheffield United by admitting that he values the affection he gets from Blades fans. The difficult connection between the Bosnian defender and his father was made clear in September when he decided to stop communicating with Mirsad and leave international duty.

The song has been played frequently during games as Ahmedhodzic’s steady play supports the Blades’ bid for an immediate return to the Premier League following their heartbreaking relegation the previous season. With only eight games left after the international break, the Blades’ victory against Wednesday last Sunday put them back on par with Leeds at the top of the Championship standings.
It’s unclear what Ahmedhodzic’s future holds after that. He just became just the seventh player from outside the UK and Republic of Ireland to play 100 games for the Blades, and he will begin the last year of the long-term contract he signed when he moved from Malmo in 2022.
Ahmedhodzic’s future is “definitely on the agenda,” Blades manager Chris Wilder recently acknowledged, adding that he hopes the discussions between Anel, his agency, and us will finish “positively.”
Since moving to South Yorkshire, the defender has been linked to several moves away from Bramall Lane. Meanwhile, United, when owned by Prince Abdullah, seemed to indicate that they would sell players who were in the last year of their current contracts rather than risk them leaving for nothing in less than a year.

In a recent interview with The Star, Ahmedhodzic discussed his future and acknowledged: “We’ll see, because I have a year left and I haven’t really talked about it or thought about it too much.” This season, winning every game, and doing my job are my top priorities. Then whatever follows happens. I haven’t given it any attention as of yet. I simply take each day as it comes.
However, I can hear the song and the support. I get a lot of energy when I hear the ball go out of play or anything. It’s incredible to hear. I really value it, especially after going through a challenging time. Hearing that improves my performance, to put it mildly. It boosts my self-esteem, which is pleasant.
