In an interview with the team’s official social media accounts, Crarey stated that he thought his team was playing well from the first to the 80th minute at The Halton Stadium.

“We talked about being road dogs at the beginning of the year,” he remarked.

“We promised to compete fiercely regardless of the side we present, and we delivered on that promise in spades.

“I felt we were excellent. Ellis Robson and Ryan Brown put up incredible performances throughout our transition game, which lasted for eighty minutes.

“Tee Ritson on his transitional play with Curtis Teare, Joe Bullock coming on and just running and tearing holes through the middle.”

“There were other instances of our excellent performance, but I’m simply incredibly pleased of them for coming here (and giving that performance) in spite of all the odds.

“They (Widnes) wanted a reaction. I spoke to Allan (head coach Allan Coleman) before the game, and he said they wanted a reaction from last week (a 39-6 defeat away to York Knights).

“I spoke to our boys and said we have got to suppress that reaction, and we did that and more.

“We hung on in there, we box kicked, we challenged everything and were first on the ball on charge downs.

“Every aspect of the game, I thought we did really well. That allowed us some field position, and I thought we were clinical in attack.

“It wasn’t until the end of the game where we scored that the game wasn’t settled.

“Bradley (Walker) dropped a goal, and we go 25-12 up and we sealed it with a nice try.

“I just thought we were brilliant across the board.”

Without a number of key players, Raiders suffered yet more injury woes at the weekend, but Crarey revealed his pride at the determination and attitude being shown by his squad.

He added: “We had Matty Costello here as 18th man. He couldn’t play because the physios ruled him out for another week, but after the game he was running up and down (on the field) when the game was finished.

“It just shows you what commitment we have got from this group of players this year.

“I’m just proud, and it is a pleasure to coach them really, because they are doing exactly what we are asking them to do and religiously sticking to it.

“And they are coming up with some big, big performances and some big, big wins.”
