Wolves’ chances of escaping relegation were greatly increased over the weekend as they defeated Southampton 2-1, while Ipswich Town and Leicester City both suffered defeats.

With games remaining against West Ham and Ipswich, Vitor Pereira’s team is presently nine points above the bottom three and could shortly secure their place in the Premier League for 2025–2026.

Regretfully, even though Pereira has performed admirably since coming in November, some elite teams have taken notice of his players’ play.

One of his teammates has received a bid, but Matheus Cunha is the one receiving the most interest.

Tottenham launch bid for Rayan Ait-Nouri

Ahead of the summer transfer season, Tottenham reportedly made a €35 million (£29 million) approach for Wolves wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The most likely team to sign the Algerian is Tottenham, although West Ham and Liverpool are also in the running for his services because they have a long-standing interest in Ait-Nouri.

In 2024–2025, the 23-year-old has been among the Premier League’s top wing-backs, contributing three goals and five assists, which is tied for second place among all defenders.

His significance to Pereira should therefore be a reflection of his worth, and Spurs’ offer is far less than what Wolves are willing to pay for their defence.

According to earlier reports, Wolves is looking for Ait-Nouri for around £50 million, which is a fair assessment of his present skill level and room for growth.

Where Ait-Nouri ranks among Europe’s best defenders

The Algerian international has drawn interest from a number of teams over the past year, including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

As FBref pointed out, the numbers from the previous season when compared to some of the top defenders in Europe show why he is a highly sought-after player.

As an attacking outlet, Ait-Nouri has been labelled “quality.” He is in the top 2% for successful take-ons and in the top 11% for non-penalty goals per 90 for defenders.

The dynamic left wing-back has also become more proficient defensively, ranking among the top 10% of defenders in terms of tackles per game.

FBref compares Ait-Nouri to Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich, who is regarded as one of the world’s top full-backs.

The Wolves player shouldn’t be interested in moving to Tottenham because he can compete at the top table of Europe if he reaches his full potential.
