Everton have initiated discussions about expanding the footprint of their new stadium. The club is set to officially move into its new home at Bramley-Moore Dock at the start of next season, but ownership is already considering broader development plans.

The Friedkin Group, Everton’s owners, are exploring the possibility of securing the neighboring Nelson Dock as part of a larger sports-led redevelopment. Speaking at the MIPIM property conference in France, interim chief executive Colin Chong confirmed that talks are underway.

“There was always an idea that we could develop a complementary project to enhance the stadium’s surroundings,” Chong stated. “Our new ownership has tasked me with investigating potential redevelopment opportunities at Nelson Dock and possibly beyond, should we find the right investment partners.”

He further explained that the club is currently in an information-gathering phase, conducting surveys, with results expected in the coming months.

“Our owners are eager to secure Nelson Dock because they see its potential, regardless of any stadium-related plans. Their proactive approach is refreshing,” Chong added. “If I had to choose one priority, it would be securing Nelson Dock and preserving the asset we’ve just built.”

Additionally, Everton are considering the possibility of relocating their women’s team to Goodison Park as part of their long-term vision for the club’s growth.

“We have no immediate plans to demolish Goodison Park—it’s not something that has to happen straight away,” Chong said. “The stadium is still fit for Premier League football, though it no longer aligns with Everton’s expansion plans. However, it would be more than suitable for women’s football for the next decade or more.”

He also noted that certain heritage aspects of Goodison Park could be preserved, with some elements potentially retained by the local fan base.
