The Indiana Fever’s top point guard Caitlin Clark is about to enter her second season. As the Fever’s first overall pick in 2024, Clark made a splash in the WNBA and guided the team to its first postseason berth since 2016. Clark and the Fever have significantly higher hopes going into their 2025 WNBA season after their first-round loss the previous year. This past summer, the Fever made a number of significant additions, including re-signing All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell and bringing in veteran free agents DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, and Sophie Cunningham.

After Christie Sides was fired at the end of the 2024 season, the team also signed Stephanie White as their new head coach. In her interview with Media Day on Wednesday, Clark was asked to describe the factors that will contribute to the success of the Fever’s next season. “A championship,” was Clark’s direct reply.
WNBA fans’ reactions to Clark’s audacious statement were all over social media. “I would not bet against her,” a fan commented on the post. Another person replied, “She’s going all the way,” Another person said, “I’m excited to watch CC play basketball this summer.” “Getting to the playoffs was essentially the aim last year, and we were just pleased to get there. We are no longer rebuilding. Another person wrote, “We’re built.”

“How fortunate we are to have a roster this strong and so many individuals that aspired to be a part of something greater than themselves… Regarding this year’s Fever squad, Clark expressed excitement.
On Saturday, the Fever will host the Washington Mystics for a preseason game. On May 17, Clark and her Indiana team will play the Chicago Sky, led by Angel Reese, in the highly anticipated opening game of the 2025 regular season.
