
Joachim Andersen of Fulham has disclosed that earlier in his career, he was on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur.
Arbejdstitel and the Denmark international spoke about Tottenham’s interest, and PL Bold has passed along his remarks.
When the 28-year-old was on loan at Fulham from Lyon in the 2020–21 campaign, Tottenham expressed interest in him.
The centre-back made 31 league matches while on loan at Fulham, where he was a regular. Tottenham fired José Mourinho, who was in command at the time, in April 2021, one month before the season ended.
Nuno EspÃrito Santo was named Spurs’ permanent successor, but he didn’t stay long at the north London club. His arrival prevented Andersen from joining Tottenham, and in July 2021, Lyon sold the defender to Crystal Palace. The player played for the Eagles for three years before moving permanently to Fulham last summer.

“I spoke with Tottenham while I was at Fulham, and a contract and other things were genuinely quite close to being finished. It actually happened when Mourinho was the coach, but it died once a new coach took over and didn’t want me,” he stated.
Cristian Romero was ultimately signed by Spurs on loan from Atalanta in the summer of 2021, and a year later, his contract was extended.
