According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Kilmarnock is moving forward with their attempt to recruit custodian Eddie Beach as he leaves Chelsea.

Beach, 21, left Stamford Bridge after his contract expired this month and is now a free agent. Since joining Chelsea from Southampton in 2022, he has never played in the first team.

The Welsh Under-21 international has teamed up with Kilmarnock for training, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider. Next week, the team will head to the Netherlands for their preseason camp.

Beach joined fellow Southampton academy star Tyler Dibling when he arrived at Cobham at the age of 18. Dibling soon returned to St. Mary’s and is now a target for transfers to Tottenham and Manchester City.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper churn continues after Beach exit

Following Beach’s departure, Chelsea’s goalkeeping rotation continues.
Robbie McCrorie from Rangers was a summer addition to Kilmarnock’s goalkeeping staff, and according to Football Insider sources, they plan to bring in Beach, another highly regarded goalkeeper.

Beach spent time on loan at Chelmsford City and Gateshead before to making another temporary move to Crawley last season, and he only appeared in a matchday squad for Chelsea during his debut season in 2022–23.

Beach made his one and only appearance for Crawley in the EFL Cup back in August. According to Football Insider sources, Beach will be the first goalie to find a new club as Chelsea gets ready to release Djordje Petrovic this summer.

Beach move proof of flawed Chelsea transfer strategy

Beach was signed by Chelsea’s academy before to their unrelenting spending spree under Todd Boehly, but in the months that followed, any hopes of making the first squad were swiftly crushed.

Since Beach arrived at Stamford Bridge, players like Mike Penders, Filip Jorgensen, Robert Sanchez, Petrovic, and Gabriel Slonina have all been signed, which has caused him to fall further and further down the hierarchy.

Given that Dibling left Chelsea after only a few months and is currently valued at up to £100 million by Southampton, it is possible that the Blues may discover some gems if they prioritised quality over quantity.
