In exchange for Elliot Dunlop, Airdrie has confirmed the signing of Alex King, a midfielder from Crusaders, a team in Northern Ireland.

The former Morton and Clyde player has joined the Diamonds ahead of their first preseason game against Penybont of the Welsh Premier League on Saturday.
Dunlop, a 19-year-old winger, is going to Belfast, while the 20-year-old arrives at New Broomfield.

“Kingy is a player with lovely balance and a sweet left foot,” stated boss Rhys McCabe. He has all the fundamentals that we look for in a player since he is both physically present and really comfortable with the ball.

“We are excited to work with him because he is versatile enough to play a variety of positions.”

On Elliot he added: “Elliot came here from youth football and worked his way into the first-team environment, developing physically as well as picking up good experience on loan at Stranraer.

“He now has the opportunity to continue his development with more regular first-team football. He’s a great boy with a great attitude and desire to improve, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

King, who made his Morton debut at the age of sixteen, is excited to play in the Championship and is happy to be back in Scotland.

“I’m really happy to be here,” he remarked. There are some excellent players at Airdrie, a fantastic club, who can have a serious impact this season. I can’t wait to begin.”
