According to reports, Miami-Dade County is putting together a “financial package” to persuade NASCAR to return the Cup Series championship race to Homestead.
The championship race is now held in Phoenix Raceway, although fans are upset over the season finale’s early scheduling this season, which was held at Homestead-Miami Speedway from 2002 to 2019.
However, Miami-Dade County is attempting to put together an alluring financial offer to regain its previous standing, according to NASCAR source Jordan Bianchi.
On The Teardown podcast, Bianchi informed Jeff Gluck of the plan and even offered advice on how Homestead may make a winning bid.
“NASCAR wants to be here [Miami],” he clarified. This is where they would like to hold their championship. However, this is ultimately a commercial choice as well.
Will Homestead host NASCAR’s season finale again?
“The city cannot write the cheque on its own,” Bianchi continued. Take a look at the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is up for bid by cities. In essence, the Phoenix, Arizona, community is paying NASCAR to host the championship at Phoenix Raceway.

“To persuade NASCAR to hold the championship in Homestead, the city, Miami-Dade County, and the community would like to put together a financial package. That is what they’re aiming for.”
When asked how much Phoenix is paying NASCAR to host the championship, Bianchi provided a ballpark figure based on what he had heard from the Homestead Vice Mayor, but he was unable to confirm the exact sum.
“The vice mayor of Homestead informed me of the information he had learnt from the Phoenix community about NASCAR. He estimated it to be between five and ten million. He said, “I’ll make sure I haven’t been able to confirm that at all.”
“As it stands right now the situation is Miami-Dade County is going to have to kick in something to kind of make this work and right now they haven’t done.”
