One person was murdered and six people injured when their vehicle crashed down an embankment along the N7 approaching Malmesbury this morning.
At approximately 8am paramedics from ER24, Metro EMS and Fire, Life Healthcare and other agencies came on the scene where they located the vehicle a few meters down the embankment close to the roadway.
Upon assessment they found that five women and a man were ejected from the vehicle. A woman was found trapped inside of the vehicle with fatal injuries. There was nothing that paramedics could do for her and she was declared dead on the scene. Rescue workers had to use hydraulic equipment to cut her out from the vehicle.

The six injured were treated for injuries ranging from possible spinal injuries to soft tissue injuries. They were later transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for further car. It is understood that the police questioned the driver of the vehicle.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known, but it is believed that the driver lost control over his vehicle shortly before crashing down the embankment.
