Although Paul Merson and Alan Shearer disagree on the outcome at Craven Cottage, Liverpool will be hoping to take another significant step towards the Premier League title at Fulham.

There is disagreement among the analysts over Liverpool this weekend; Paul Merson and Alan Shearer have different predictions for the Reds’ performance against Fulham.

With their midweek triumph over Everton, Arne Slot’s team will travel to London with a lot of confidence after defeating Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle in the Champions League and Carabao Cup final. Diogo Jota’s goal moved Liverpool one step closer to winning the Premier League, despite the turmoil surrounding the derby.

Additionally, the Reds are currently only 11 points away from winning the championship following Saturday’s draw with Arsenal at Goodison Park. If they triumph at Craven Cottage today, they might even be one victory away from winning the championship if Mikel Arteta’s team keeps losing.

However, Fulham will put Liverpool to the test, and Marco Silva’s team is likely the Reds’ hardest opponent for the rest of the month. Merson, a former midfielder for Arsenal, has suggested that the visitors might lose because of this.

“I think Liverpool’s goal was offside but it’s all fair in the end because Everton deserved to go down to 10 men and were lucky to have James Tarkowski on the pitch. But if I’m Arne Slot, I wouldn’t be too happy with that performance.” Merson predicted a 1-1 draw for Sportskeeda, saying: “Fulham have hit a bit of a brick wall, haven’t they? I didn’t think they ever got going against Arsenal and were quite poor.”

Merson went on to discuss Slot’s squad, saying: “Conor Bradley would have started at right-back if he had been healthy. Curtis Jones is a good football player who should play for Liverpool more frequently, thus I don’t mind him at all. However, Antonee Robinson on that flank is the issue. Robinson may cause Jones a lot of trouble if [Mohamed] Salah is unable to return and assist.

“I would start Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Salah for Liverpool in this matchup. However, I do not believe that the Reds will triumph at Craven Cottage.

However, Shearer, a former striker for Newcastle, is not expecting the Reds to make a mistake. He offered this brief prediction for Betfair: “I’ll go for an away win.” Although I think Marco Silva has done a great job and I like Fulham, Liverpool will be too much for them.

Shearer is not the only one who believes Liverpool will win today. Chris Sutton, a former Blackburn teammate who gave BBC Sport a 2-1 Reds victory prediction, concurs.

Fulham made it tough for Arsenal on Tuesday, and since they are so good at counterattacking, I anticipate them to do the same here, Sutton stated.

“With everything on the line, I still believe the leaders will be totally focused and finish the job, just like they did against Everton, even though they might give Liverpool another serious scare here.”
