Phil Parkinson, the manager of Wrexham, is busy getting ready to play Exeter City, but on Tuesday afternoon, his reserves scored a significant victory.

Wrexham is in a fantastic position as the League One promotion campaign draws to a close.

Paul Mullin scored in Wrexham reserves clash

Wrexham’s reserves played in the Central League on Tuesday afternoon against Mansfield Town at Colliers Park. The Wrexham AFC Archive has shared the starting lineup for the match, which features a formidable squad led by David Jones.

Paul Mullin, who was given an opportunity to shine alongside Modou Faal in attack, was the headline addition.

Mullin hasn’t been playing for Wrexham lately, and he hasn’t even been on the bench.

Mullin’s future was questioned by Wrexham supporters, but on Tuesday, he dispelled all of the rumors.

Max Purvis and Dan Scarr both scored goals before Mullin’s second goal, which gave Wrexham a 4-0 victory.

Ollie Palmer, who has been out of favor with Mullin since the end of the January transfer window, scored the game’s last goal.

Palmer scored the fourth goal in a resounding victory on Tuesday after coming off the bench.

This was a reminder of the goalscoring quality both Mullin and Palmer possess despite several weeks out of the team.

Whether that leads to first-team opportunities again remains to be seen, but the clamour for them to return may only grow louder after Tuesday’s goals.

There were other first-team names in use besides Mullin.

In addition to starting against Mansfield and recording a clean sheet, Callum Burton is speeding up his recuperation from injury.Summertime signing Yassine Toure, the son of former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure, played at right wing back, while Scarr started in defence.

Young players Josh Adam and Harry Ashfield were given opportunities to shine in midfield, while Jacob Mendy and George Evans also began.

It is simply incredible to name this kind of lineup in a reserve team match, and it is not surprising that Mansfield was soundly defeated.

Players are undoubtedly eager to contribute to another possible promotion in the final weeks of the season, so those participating will be hoping to have caught Parkinson’s attention on Tuesday.
