Liam Lawson’s decline in the Red Bull ranks could not be finished yet, according to a Formula 1 race winner.

After being promoted during the winter, Lawson was dropped from Red Bull to Racing Bulls just two races later. Yuki Tsunoda was chosen to sit beside Max Verstappen.

Lawson resumed driving for the Racing Bulls squad as a result, but despite rookie teammate Isack Hadjar scoring five points in the same vehicles, Lawson has yet to score.

Furthermore, Tsunoda has begun to gain points with his new team, and his performances at Red Bull have been more reliable than Lawson’s.

Seven-time Grand Prix winner Juan Pablo Montoya has now suggested that Red Bull might be considering further demoting Lawson in favour of 17-year-old Arvid Lindblad.

“If Liam doesn’t improve quickly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in Arvid Lindblad at some point,” Montoya stated to AS. “Not at all, I wouldn’t be surprised.”

He required a lot of psychological support after the incident at Red Bull, which was complex and, in my opinion, a major setback. I’m confident Red Bull will go elsewhere if Lawson doesn’t get better soon. That’s simplySeven-time Grand Prix winner Juan Pablo Montoya has now suggested that Red Bull might be considering further demoting Lawson in favour of 17-year-old Arvid Lindblad.

“If Liam doesn’t improve quickly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in Arvid Lindblad at some point,” Montoya stated to AS.

British-Swedish racer Lindblad, another graduate of Red Bull’s successful driver development program, has benefited from recent changes in the company’s hierarchy and has been promoted to F2 for 2025.

The 17-year-old made history in the 2024 British Grand Prix by becoming the first Formula One driver to win both the sprint and feature races, finishing fourth in the previous season with four victories and an additional podium.

He has already secured his first series victory in Formula One this year, and if special exemptions are granted because of his young age, he has accrued enough points on his licence to be eligible to compete in Formula One.

Lawson, 23, understands what it’s like to be the most attractive young prospect.
