In order for Somerset officials to repair pedestrian crossings and traffic signals, several routes in Yeovil town centre will close.
The following scheduled road closures will take effect on March 17th, marking the beginning of the last phase of work to improve pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and pathways for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Any impacted bus routes will be rerouted, and diversionary measures will be implemented. Residents and business owners impacted by these closures are being contacted by the on-site personnel.
For up to a week, South Western Terrace, Central Road, Middle Street, and Old Station Road will be closed to allow for highway resurfacing and traffic signal modifications.
As part of the signals upgrade, a number of nighttime-only closures on South Western Terrace and Middle Street will also be in place in order to maximise the usage of this closure for the installation of new road crossings.
For the final paving and road marking, there will be a last midnight closure.
Hendford
The development of a shared bike and walking path has been the main focus on Hendford.

From Monday, March 24 until Friday, April 4, all northbound traffic from Brunswick Street to Hendford Medical Centre will be completely blocked in order to finish the last stage of construction.
It is advised to allow extra time for travel because of the diversion.
Temporary traffic lights are still in place at the northern end of Hendford so that construction can be finished there.
The work at Hendford will be completed after the roadway has been completely resurfaced. We’ll let you know when the final surfacing is scheduled.
Link to Pen Mill
The Country Park connection to Pen Mill railway station will undergo additional minor repairs. Road closures won’t be necessary as these will be finished in the next six to eight weeks.
While they are being done, residents shouldn’t see any major disruptions.
Councillor Richard Wilkins’s quote
The lead member for transport and digital, Cllr Richard Wilkins, said on the project: “It is really exciting to be getting close to finishing the new, expanded, and improved active travel network throughout our town centre. When finished, all users—whether travelling by foot, bicycle, or car—will have better and safer connectivity and accessibility.
“These road closures represent the last phase of the Active Travel initiative linked to Yeovil Refresh, which will provide Yeovil’s main thoroughfares with new, improved infrastructure. Resurfacing of important roadways and long-awaited improvements to crossings and signals into these areas are made possible by the £1.2 million investment in Yeovil’s roads network.
