United are back in action in Livingston this Friday night as they appear before the BBC cameras for the second week in a row.

Scott Brown acknowledges that Ayr United will have a “make or break” night at Livingston this Friday. The Honest Men are five points behind David Martindale’s team, and Brown is eager to secure a second-place Championship finish, which might mean two less games, in the play-offs.

He is aware that their ambitions for the end-of-season shootout depend heavily on this week.

We’re still putting our best effort towards finishing in second place because we understand how crucial that could be in a few weeks, Brown told the Ayrshire Post.

“If you can get away with it, you don’t want to play those extra two games, so Friday night is really make or break for us in that regard.”

“We’ve done it before this season, so the guys can take confidence from that.” “Win up there and it keeps us in the hunt.”

Ayr’s performance in last Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Falkirk pleased Brown, who felt it demonstrated their ability to compete.

“Falkirk is a very good team and will win the league,” he continued. However, I felt that we were excellent for extended periods of time the other night, and the character we displayed to return and make the point was outstanding.

“The atmosphere on the pitch was fantastic, and it demonstrates what can be accomplished when everyone is working together.” That is what we adore about this town, and it has been that way since we arrived.

“The fact that we are all working together will be crucial in the coming weeks.”

Due to his tumultuous cameo against Falkirk and subsequent fast red card, Ethan Walker will be absent for Ayr’s trip to Livingston. Two yellow cards in 60 seconds followed his score, which earned the point.

“I’m devastated for him because his goals have been really important and he’s been having a real impact lately,” Brown said.
