Transfer planning may now start because Swindon Town has settled into a mid-table spot in League Two this season.

The Robins were within a hair’s breadth of making the playoffs after a rather nerve-racking 19th-place finish the previous season.

They can now use the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen their team in an attempt to compete in the top four divisions.

Ciaran, our Swindon Fan Pundit, was asked what he thought his ideal transfer window would entail.

Swindon need to start recruiting for promotion

“Aside from signing Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah, and Erling Haaland, a realistic one would just be to sign experienced players who are proven at League Two and even League One level, but they’re not past it,” Ciaran stated in an interview with Football League World during the summer 2025 transfer window.

Therefore, they are not approaching the age of forty, thirty-eight, or thirty-seven. They are still extremely capable of playing League One football and are young enough to stay with the team for a long time.

In addition to some young, talented players who can play League Two or, better still, League One football throughout the park, there are seasoned stars who can add flair and technical skill.

Since we seem to sign a lot of players who are extremely prone to injuries, I believe we should just sign a few seasoned, proven names who aren’t prone to injuries. We will always sign players who are well-known or have a lot of experience, even if they are prone to injuries.

We don’t know how much we’ll get out of them, and these are players we’re going to rely on, so it’s always disappointing when they have a lot of recurring injuries or have played very few games the previous season.

At Swindon, where we have these players, it has occurred for the past two or three years. We anticipate that they will play significant roles before being sidelined for the majority of the season.

“I simply want players who have the experience, track record, and talent to start a team that is vying for promotion, but who can also go above and beyond and stay for two or three years.”

“I would really want to see us begin doing that and building in that manner during this summer transfer window; nothing too crazy or anything; that’s simply the way it is.

“But, of course, we are still bringing in younger players, but instead of loaning them in, bring in younger players who we can develop into the players who have been here for a number of years, or sell them for high prices to go and support the boys coming through the academy as well.”

“I would really like to see that during the summer transfer window of 2025.”
