Wakefield Trinity Peter Smith challenges Wakefield Trinity to play for England in the future February 15, 2026
Jack Sinfield, a preseason acquisition, has the potential to develop into a “international half-back” while playing for Wakefield Trinity, according to coach Daryl Powell.
After being released from the last year of his Leeds Rhinos contract, Sinfield, 21, joined Wakefield last October.
Powell believes he has the skill to be among the best players in his position in the Super League, having made 29 games for the Rhinos between 2022 and 2025.

Wakefield Trinity signing tipped for future England role as challenge laid out
Sinfield, 21, joined Wakefield last October after being released from the final year of his Leeds Rhinos contract.
He made 29 appearances for Rhinos from 2022-25 and Powell reckons he has the talent to be one of Super League’s top players in his position.
Jake Trueman and Mason Lino are currently ahead of Sinfield in Trinity’s pecking order and he didn’t play last Sunday’s huge 82-6 Betfred Challenge Cup win at Swinton Lions.
But, speaking prior to the club’s defeat to Toulouse Olympique, Powell insisted: “I’ve got to make sure he gets the games he needs to make sure he’s a future international half-back.
“I’ve been talking to Jack about a plan for him and how he fits in. We’ve signed him as our future half-back, so him having a plan and knowing where he’s going and what he’s doing is important.
“There are no guarantees in life, however we signed him as a half-back who we think is going to be unbelievable in the future.”
