I am aware that there are differing views in Avs Nation about Gabriel Landeskog, the captain of the Colorado Avalanche, making a comeback to the starting lineup in the 2024–25 Stanley Cup playoffs. Some of your folks are very sure that he will return. Some individuals also claim that they won’t believe it unless they see it. Regardless of your stance on this issue, both are reasonable and reasonable. In order to avoid disappointment in the event that something goes wrong, Landeskog has stated that he dislikes setting deadlines for himself.

However, a recent development has surfaced. Landeskog occasionally travels with the club, so he won’t be in St. Louis on Saturday when the Avalanche play the Blues. Rather, he is engaging in practice. in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles.

There will probably be people who figure that this is just another way of getting on the ice for rehab-specific purposes only. Honestly in my eyes, I don’t know if he would be doing that. I would think that he would either travel with the Avalanche or just wait to hit the ice when they return from St. Louis, as their next game is on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

This seems like a clear indication to me that Landeskog is fully committed to returning to the ice once the Stanley Cup Playoffs start. Unfortunately, due to salary cap restrictions, we will not be able to see Landeskog in a regular season game this year, no matter how much we would like to. As I indicated in a recent piece, there is no salary cap in the NHL postseason. After those games start, he would have total freedom to play for the Avalanche.

As the days pass, a lot of people will be watching this situation. The thought of Landeskog playing in a real game for the first time in three years makes me shiver.

I believe that Avalanche Nation may be able to revive their dreams, even though we will have to wait a little while longer. It seems as though it will occur this year. You can disagree if you’d want, but optimism just seems right.

Landeskog will be adequate at this point regardless of whether he plays on the second or fourth line. After years of arduous work, we will finally witness the captain’s return to combat.
