Caleb Taylor scored the first goal for Wycombe Wanderers in their 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers Wednesday, giving them a victory over their previous employers.
The parent club, West Bromwich Albion, recalled the centre-back in January because he has been among the best in League One this season.
But a few weeks later, he was transferred back to Wycombe to finish the season.
However, Taylor has been even more heroic in the past week after scoring the game-winning goal in stoppage time against Stevenage last Saturday and then heading in his second goal in as many games to put the Chairboys ahead against Bolton.
The 22-year-old spent time with the Trotters last season, but hardly featured for the club due to an injury he sustained in the early stages of his loan spell.
After his goal and an important three points for his club, Taylor took to Instagram to thank the travelling supporters and issue a rallying cry for Easter Monday’s vital fixture against Charlton Athletic.
Wycombe Wanderers stars react to Caleb Taylor’s post Bolton Wanderers message

The West Brom loanee had numerous excellent chances to increase his score, but he was unfortunate to just appear on the Chairboys’ scoresheet once prior to last week. However, Taylor has now tripled his total in just six days, proving that his patience has paid off.
The defender said, “Good away day! ” on Instagram after Wycombe’s 2-0 victory over Bolton on Good Friday. displaying a picture of him jumping into the air in front of the away fans after finding the net, saying, “Thank you to the travelling fans, we go again Monday .”
The post was met with plenty of responses from his colleagues, sharing the joy at their teammate’s goal. Striker Daniel Udoh posted a GIF which read: “Are you not entertained?”
Others, such as left-back Daniel Harvie and centre-back partner Joe Low shared as their defensive partner added to his tally. Wanderers midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson also chimed in with the compliments towards his teammate, replying ” again!
It wasn’t just his current colleagues that were sharing the support, as Taylor also received plenty of comments from his former teammates at West Brom. Zac Ashworth, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Rayhaan Tulloch, and Reyes Cleary were also some of those among the comments, with the latter jokingly saying: “Goal scorer now.
Taylor has saved his Wycombe goals for the right time
As mentioned, before the defender was recalled by the Baggies, he’d netted just once for Wycombe in a 4-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in December.
In recent weeks, Taylor has looked likely to add to that tally, with attempts against Wrexham and Huddersfield Town that were very close to hitting the back of the net. Sadly for him, they were both cleared off the line.
However, as we enter the final three games of the season, the 22-year-old has certainly picked the right time to find his shooting boots. This has helped propel his side to three consecutive wins, which has seen the Chairboys snatch second place back off Wrexham.
There’s still so much to play for in League One, and nothing is anywhere near set in stone yet, but the momentum has been with Mike Dodds’ side over the last couple of games. If that doesn’t change on Monday against Charlton, Taylor’s latest two goals could be crucial when all is said and done come 3 May.
