Non league supporters would know that often the best part of the day isn’t the game itself; it’s the travelling to faraway venues with fellow fans and checking out the local taverns and craft ale bars.
Saturday was undoubtedly one of those days, since the football that Peckham Town served up was utterly terrible, with the club being outplayed, outpaced and outmuscled by – literally – a squad of schoolboys.
This is not to diminish Ramsgate Athletic, though, who merited their 4-1 victory.
The afternoon started so well, with some fine drinks at the The Conqueror Micro Pub in Ramsgate.
And so to the ground and the pun-tastic ‘Legends Wall.’
When it comes to scoring goals, Ramsgate Athletic are the division kings, netting 52 goals before Saturday. with 26 of those coming in the last two months of 2024.
With Peckham conceding no less than 20 goals in the same period, it was no surprise to find them 0-4 down by half time.
