I believe that Evatt’s Bolton side served as a model for what has to be contested in this league. They possessed talented players with both off-ball and on-ball skills. The Trotters aren’t any better off with their new management, but it didn’t get them promoted and ultimately led to his dismissal.

Schumacher has somewhat improved to 1.70 points per game, whereas Evatt was fired at 1.46. However, Blackpool, not Bolton, the aggressive leader, is currently in charge, and he is the one who sees a blueprint before his journey to the Bank, not me.

He did deliver a warning for the Imps. Seemingly believing we are going up, his challenge was how we evolve what we do now for the next level. Hopefully, our blueprint will achieve that, but we need to heed Evatt’s warning.

It is another big weekend in League One. Stockport travel to Stevenage in a tricky encounter, while Bradford have an equally tough task away at Reading. Bolton, with two draws behind them, face Exeter City, leaving us with a good chance to open up more of a gap between those three teams and us.

For those looking up, not down, Cardiff City go to Doncaster Rovers.
